Double story residential house gutted by fire in Sopore

Sopore: A double-story residential house was gutted  and property worth lakhs of rupees was reduced to ashes after fire broke out in Jalalabad area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday morning.

Witnesses said that fire engulfed the double story joint residential house of Advocate Mushtaq Ahmad Pandith of Jalalabad area of Sopore in which the house was completely destroyed and goods worth lakhs of rupees was turned into ashes.

“Fire broke out from the trace of my house which spread to the entire house in jiffy causing huge damage.  As we tried to extinguish the fire but it went out of control, reducing the entire house and goods worth lakhs of rupees into ashes,” said house owner Advocate Mushtaq Ahmad .

“As we spotted the fire flames we immediately rushed to extinguish the fire but failed to control it as it spread very quickly in the entire residential house leaving the family homeless,” a neighbor Ajaz Ahmad added.

Fire tenders, police and locals pressed into service and put fire under control. The cause of fire was not known immediately, reports added.

People have appealed the government to provide immediate relief to affected familyand provide them compensation so that they can construct their houses again.
