Poonch: A husband-wife duo and their teenage son were killed in cross-border shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Khari Karmara village of Poonch sector late Friday evening, officials said.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Pakistan heavily shelled Khari Karmara village of Poonch sector on Friday evening and one of the 120 mm mortar shelling hit a residential house in the village.

He said that the husband-wife duo and their 15-year-old son were killed when the mortar shell hit the residential house.

The official identified the husband-wife duo as Mohammad Rafiq (52) and Rafiq Bi (50) “In the incident, their teenage son Irfan Ahmad also got killed.”

He said that another family member also got injured, who is being evacuated to the hospital amid heavy shelling in the area.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch, Rahul Yadav confirmed to KNO that three persons have died and another one injured in the cross-border shelling.

He said that further details in this regard are being ascertained.
