Lt Governor interacts with public delegation from Ganderbal

SRINAGAR : Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu today interacted with a public delegation from Ganderbal District here at the Auditorium Complex, Raj Bhavan and took stock of the grievances and developmental aspirations of the people of the area.

BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary; Arun Kumar Mehta, Financial Commissioner, Finance department; Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education; Dheeraj Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Government, Housing and Urban Development department; Pandurang K. Pole, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir and senior officers were present on the occasion.

Delegation led by former MLA, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, comprising of people from different walks of life including Municipal Committee President, PRI representatives, traders, senior citizens, fruit growers, representatives from business associations and civil society members apprised the Lt Governor of various developmental issues and other issues of public importance of Ganderbal district and sought his intervention in resolving the same.

Demands pertaining to land acquisition for four laning of Pandach Beehama road; functioning of Unani College and Hospital; development of Lar Marg/ Mohand Marg as tourist destination; development of various play fields & parks; upgradation of PHC Lar; execution of work on 93 MW New Ganderbal Hydro-electric Power project; establishment of Women Degree College at Lar; upgradation of High Schools; concession to the PHH ration cards; strengthening of road network etc were projected by the members of the delegation.

A representation from inhabitants of Non-Migrant Kashmiri Pandits of District Ganderbal was also received which included issues pertaining to renovation, development and protection of Shrines in Kashmir; benefits to non-migrant Kashmiri Pandit youths etc.

President, Municipal Committee Ganderbal also sought the administrative intervention in development of Ganderbal town under AMRUT by waiving of population criteria, besides establishment of Solid Waste Management Project and modern Toll Plaza.

While interacting with the members of the delegation, the Lt Governor observed that the government is committed to reaching out to the people with a prompt public delivery mechanism to resolve their issues and meet their developmental needs.

He issued on the spot directions in respect of the issues projected and asked the concerned officers to remove the bottlenecks in a time bound manner.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir was directed to look into the issues of land acquisition and pending payments, if any, besides other issues in his domain. Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control was directed to complete the first phase of Lift Irrigation Scheme within two months. Some of the long pending issues were resolved on the spot.

The Lt Governor assured the delegation that the issues raised by them would be reviewed periodically to assess the progress.
