JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education today declared the Class 12 Result (Regular) Annual 2020 for summer zone schools of Jammu Province with a total pass percentage of 77.38%, in which Government Schools showed a remarkable jump of over 17.3% in pass percentage over last year’s result accounting for a total of around 73% pass percentage, while the private schools of the zone also showed an improvement of over 11.93% with 85% pass percentage, reads a DIPR-JK communiqué.
Hailing JKBOSE authorities for declaring the result despite the pressing conditions created by the COVID-19 pandemic, Director School Education Jammu Anuradha Gupta, while extending her gratitude, acknowledged that it was due to the efforts of the officials of the Board as well as the teachers and evaluators of Directorate of School Education Jammu that the result could be prepared and declared.
In her message to the students, parents, teachers, HODs, office bearers and other staff members, the Director of School Education Jammu Anuradha Gupta congratulated them for the results and divulged that 44 students of the Government schools figured in the Top 10 Merit Positions including the first position in Science stream being co-shared by three students from Government Schools along with 2 students from private schools, and the 2nd position too going to a Government School student. She further added that in the arts stream too the 2nd and 3rd position has been bagged by Government School students, while in Home science stream all the top 7 positions have been bagged by the Government School students.
The Director School Education Jammu said that due to the prevailing conditions there is an atmosphere of uncertainty for the students and parents alike about future prospects, and awake to this fact the Directorate of School Education Jammu has a fully functional Councelliing Cell to cater to all kind of queries and guidance to the students and parents. Further, to address the needs of the students, the Directorate has opened up a portal by the name ‘Manzilein’ in collaboration with UNICEF which has a lot of important information which the students would find useful, she informed.
She further added that the Directorate has conducted many webinars during the covid pandemic related to ‘career avenues for students’ and will continue to do so in future as well for the benefit of the students and other stakeholders.
Appealing to the students and others, Anuradha Gupta asked everyone to take benefit of the counselling helpline number of the DSEJ 6006800068 under the flagship program AAO BAAT KAREIN where experts will attend to the queries and guide the students accordingly.
In the declared result, three students from Government Schools co- shared the first position in science stream with 493 marks (98.6%) namely Anshul Thakur, Govt. Model Hr. Sec. School, Basohli, Stanzin Sharab of Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Mubarak Mandi and Tania Gupta of Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Udhampur, while the 2nd position went to two Government School students with 492 Marks ( 98.4%) and third position too was co shared by two Government School students with 491 marks ( 98.2 %), displaying the level of close competition.
In Home science stream, all the top seven positions were bagged by the Government School Students, Merit List Facility of Home Science Tanisha Jain, of Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Mubarak Mandi secured 429 marks (85.8%) and held on to the top position.
Others are Manisha Aithamian of Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Mubarak Mandi with 368 Mark’s (73.6%) (2nd), Sonia Rani, of Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Mubarak Mandi with 364 marks (72.8%) 3rd.
In the arts stream too the 2nd and 3rd positions went to Government School students, Vanshika Sumbria Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Udhampur, 2nd with 493 marks (98.6%), while S Mallikarjun of Govt. Hr. Sec. School, (Boys), Sunderbani with 491 marks (98.2%) stood 3rd.
A total 33779 candidates appeared in the said examination in around 316 Examination Centres, out of which 26139 have achieved the qualified status constituting 77.38% of the total examinees. Girls once again have outdone the boys by scoring a pass percentage of 82% whereas boys stood at 73%.
