Two militants, ‘active associate’ killed in Shopian encounter

Srinagar: Three militant were killed in a gunfight at Chewa Ullar area of Tral in Awantipora of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Official sources told GNS that three militant were killed in the gunfight. However, he said, the identity of the slain militants was yet to be ascertained.

Two AK-47 were also recovered from their possession.

They said, during exchange of firing the whole house caught fire where militants were hiding.

Pertinently, the operation was suspended yesterday evening due to the darkness, as the first ray of light of morning came in, the operation was resumed, they said.

Earlier According to the reports reaching GNS, a joint team of Police, Army’s 42 RR and 180 BN of CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Chewa Ullar.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.(GNS)
