Srinagar: A day after police claimed that the missing Bemina youth, Hilal Ahmad Dar S/O late Ghulam Mohidin Dar, a PHD scholar, had joined militant ranks, his family members and relatives came out to protest against the claim and sought his whereabouts.

Family members and relatives of Dar gathered at Press Enclave here in Srinagar, Wednesday, and sought the whereabouts of their missing son refuting the recent police statement claiming that he had joined militant ranks.

Alleging that the police statement was baseless and that Dar was totally inclined towards studies and expeditions, the protesting family members said that police instead of making claims should help them trace their missing son. “There is absolutely no reason for us to believe what police claims. He was an intelligent youth having inclination towards studies and co circular activities like trekking. There was no question of him joining militancy,” the agitating family members and relatives said adding that the administration must help in tracing him at the earliest.

Hilal’s brother has been camping at Naranag and has refused to return home until his younger brother is traced, the relatives said.

It is pertinent to mention that Dar, accompanied by few of his friends, had gone for a trekking trip to Naranag and is missing since then.
