Baseer Khan reviews initiatives regarding Covid-19 management in Anantnag

JAMMU, MAY 28: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Khan, today convened a meeting at Civil Secretariat, Jammu to review and assess the management and initiatives being taken up to contain the spread of Covid-19 in Anantnag district.

Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, K.K Sidha, SSP, Anantnag, ADC Anantnag, ACD Anantnag, Nodal Officers for Covid-19 and other district officers attended the meeting through Video Conferencing.

Advisor emphasized upon the officers to ensure that guidelines issued by Government of India and LG administration in addressing various issues pertaining to Covid-19 to bring down the spread of infection and managing the affairs in containment zones are strictly adhered to.

He asked the DC to constitute Additional Special Teams with adequate Magistracy for Red Zone areas and ensure that there is no violation of the lock down measures in these containment areas.

He further enjoined upon Deputy Commissioner and SSP to personally conduct surprise visits in the Red Zones as well as buffer zones and deploy additional medical teams in Red Zones for expeditious screening and testing. He said that teams deployed in Red Zone areas should also ensure that requirement of all essential commodities and medicines shall be ensured at the door steps.

Advisor asked the district administration to establish additional screening and surveillance teams and quarantine centres at Jawahar Tunnel and Qazigund in view of the evacuation of stranded students and labourers of the Union Territory from outside the UT by the administration. He also asked for constituting special teams for random screening and sampling of the truck drivers and cleaners who remain lined up along the National Highway. He instructed the District Police to ensure strict adherence to the social distancing and usage of masks by the driver and cleaners.

The Advisor further directed DC to personally monitor and take regular reviews of the development activities particularly under MGNREGA with special focus on wage employment generation.

Deputy Commissioner informed the Advisor that instructions have been passed to the officers for aggressive testing in Red Zone areas. He also informed that all the 135 Buffer Zones which have seen spike in the cases will be declared as Red Zones with only one Entry and Exit point.

He informed that all the passes previously issued by Tehsildars  and SDMs have been cancelled and fresh passes will be issued only by the office of Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag to the bonafide persons. Besides, additional Para Medical staff shall be imparted necessary training for conduct of aggressive testing of persons residing in Red Zone areas.

The Advisor stressed upon the need of complete synergy among all the Line Departments for effective tackling of the pandemic in the district. He asked the officers to adopt pro-active approach leaving no room for complacency and complaints. A strong monitoring mechanism needs to be adopted for efficient management, he added.
