COVID-19: First Lady visits Quarantine Facility in Samba

SAMBA: Dr. Smita Murmu, First Lady of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, visited a quarantine facility in Samba today and took first hand information of the preparedness of the administration to house the inmates and the various facilities being provided to them.

She was briefed by Deputy Commissioner, Samba about the measures being taken by the district administration to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and details of the various quarantine centers in the district. He further informed that there were 60 inmates currently under quarantine at the facility.

During the visit, the First Lady also distributed kits of essential items comprising toiletries, towels, and bed sheets among the inmates and lauded the efforts of volunteers and frontline workers who she said were toiling hard in these unprecedented times to mitigate the hardship caused by the COVID-19.

While inspecting the medical stalls established at the facility, the First Lady took note of the availability of Ayush immunity booster and other medicines especially for women, children, and senior citizens. She stressed on proper storage and upkeep of the medicines and further emphasized on maintenance of hygiene in the vicinity of the quarantine centre.

She directed the officers to take all necessary measures imperative to provide best quarantine facilities in such centers across the district and be responsive to the needs & grievances of the inmates.

Rohit Khajuria, Deputy Commissioner Samba; Shakti Pathak, SSP Samba; Vikas Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner Samba; C.P Kotwal, SDM Vijaypur and other senior officers of the civil administration and police were present on the occasion.
