Kulgam: Search operations continued in a Kulgam as the militants escaped following exchange of fire with security forces.

A police spokesman said that during the intervening night of 13/14-05-2020 a specific input was received by Kulgam Police about the presence of militants in village Yumrach Kulgam.

“Acting upon this input, a joint cordon and search operation by Kulgam Police, 34RR and 18Bn CRPF was launched,” the spokesman said, adding, during the search operation, hiding militants fired indiscriminately upon the search parties.

“The troops immediately took cover and retaliated. Militants, however, took advantage of darkness and escaped from the spot,” said the spokesman.

He further said that in this connection FIR stands registered in police station Yaripora and investigation set into motion. However search is still in progress to hunt the escaped militants.
