Srinagar: Two soldiers, who were injured in firing by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, succumbed here on Saturday, a defence spokesman said.

“Unfortunately, two soldiers have succumbed to their injuries,” defence spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said.

The Army salutes their supreme sacrifice, he said.

Three soldiers and three civilians, including a four-year-old boy, were injured on Friday when Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC in Rampur Sector in Baramulla in north Kashmir.

Meanwhile, an army soldier got killed while another sustained injuries in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday after a grenade went off accidentally and exploded inside the camp.

Confirming the mishap Station House Officer (SHO) Karnah told KNS that during a military drill in Jal Post of Karnah sector, a grenade exploded accidently resulting the injuries to two army personnel.

He said soon after the mishap, both army men were evacuated and rushed to military hospital for treatment where Nk. Jigender Singh (3200182-L) succumbed to his injuries while another injured army man Nk. Jitendra Singh (3200875-H) sustained injuries and is being treated.
