Anantnag: Four militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Sunday.
Police said that the encounter was triggered between security forces and militants after the militants fired upon a patrolling party of the security forces at Guddar in the Devsar area of Kulgam Sunday evening.
Security forces returned the fire triggering the encounter. In the ensuing encounter, four militants were killed, police said.
The identity and group affiliation of the slain militants is being ascertained, the official said.
With these killings, the number of militants killed in April this year has reached 26, the Army said.
The overall count of the militants killed so far this year has risen to 58, an Army official said.
