DGP review COVID-19 arrangement in south Kashmir

Srinagar: Continuing its outreach programme to review the arrangements regarding to COVID- 19 pandemic on ground, Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh on Friday visited to CTC, Lehtpora and Anantnag District of South Kashmir

The DGP also reviewed the security situation.

According to a police statement, accompanied by IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, the DGP first visited CTC Lethpora and inspected a quarantine facility established at the Centre. “The DGP was briefed by Principle CTC Tanveer Jeelani regarding the facilities and other arrangement made available in quarantine centre for police personnels. SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem Khan and Commandant IR 23rd Atul Sharma were present on the occasion,” reads the statement.

At Anantnag, the DGP took stock of the prevailing status of Coronavirus and lockdown, besides reviewed the security scenario in an interaction with the officers at Anantnag.

While interacting, the DGP directed the officers that minimum public movement has to be ensured particularly in the areas declared as containment zones to prevent the spreading of the disease. He said that with the cooperation of cross section of the society, effective implementation of lockdown is being ensured and added. DGP asked the officers to maintain similar rapport with social and religious leaders to observe same level of social distancing during the Holy month of Ramadan too so that there is no let up in the current level of precautions.

From Anantnag, he along with IG Kashmir DIG SKR and SSP Anantnag participated in the VC by MOS PMO Dr Jatinder Singh who lauded the role of Jammu Kashmir Police and other security forces for an exemplary role in adopting different innovative Practices to ensure strict adherence to lockdown restrictions and an incident free enforcement and environment for civilian departments to perform their duties in a hassle free and smooth way.

He also appreciated its human outreach to needy people even while being engaged in multifarious tasks of maintaining peaceful security environment and fight against the Pak sponsored Terrorism.

DGP thanked all ranks of police for implementing the government orders and advisories in letter and spirit.  He emphasized that all the necessary preventive and precautionary measures have to be continued for our own Police personnel on ground particularly by those deployed in high risk zones. The DGP lauded the role of JKP personnel for providing help and assistance to the people in need at their door steps and urged them to continue the good work in future also.

Referring to the recent militant attacks, the DGP said: “Pak sponsored terrorists are making attempts to disturb prevailing peace and people’s life He said that despite our added commitments to contain the spread of COVID-19, all measures would continue to maintain peace.”

DIG South Kashmir Range, Atul Kumar Goel, SSP Anantang, Sandeep Choudhary and other jurisdictional officers of South Kashmir were present during the interaction.

The officers gave their assessment reports and measures taken on security front as also regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in South Kashmir.

The DGP later inspected the renovation work of different facilities for Jawans being conducted at District Police Lines Anantnag.

The DGP later enroute to Jammu had Security reviews with DIG DKR and SSP Ramban and DIG Udhampur Riasi and SSP Udhampur. He conveyed his compliments to officers and other ranks of these two ranges for good measures taken by them for checking Corona Spread and maintaining good law and order situation.
