‘AYUSH on frontline in fight against COVID-19’

SRINAGAR: The J&K is facing a catastrophic situation due to outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic and to control this challenge, the department of AYUSH has been playing a pivotal role in containment and prevention of COVID-19 in UT J&K.

Director Indian Systems of Medicine J&K, Dr. Mohan Singh, District AYUSH Officers, AYUSH doctors and Paramedical staff of J&K are performing their duties as front line workers in their respective Districts in accordance with the guidelines issued by Ministries of Health and Family welfare and Ministry of AYUSH Government of India.

The AYUSH doctors and Paramedics of Kashmir division are actively associated with frontline workers, working in Quarantine Centers, Surveillance teams, Rapid Response teams, RTI OPDs, Control rooms at District and Divisional level. Department of AYUSH has established Divisional control room COVID-19 at old secretariat Srinagar which is being monitored by Divisional Nodal Officer, ISM, COVID-19 Kashmir, Dr. Iftikhar Hussain Gazi , who has been actively working on war footing basis in close association with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and other line departments in fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Besides, the District Control rooms have been established in all Districts which liaising with Deputy Commissioners of all districts for addressing problems being faced by masses.

The District control rooms of the AYUSH are providing Tele consultation facilities and in every district AYUSH doctors are offering consultation through telephone, What’sapp and other means of social media.

Besides, initiating an encouraging activity to make people aware about the preventive measures to fight against COVID-19 through electronic and print media, which include hand hygiene, Respiratory Hygiene, Social distancing, Rationale use of face masks. The people are being regularly advised to practice Yoga, exercises at home during lock down and to use Immune Booster home remedies.

The AYUSH doctors and paramedics are providing Immune boosters AYUSH medicines as per the guidelines issued by Ministry of AYUSH GOI to the frontline health workers, staff of Deputy Commissioner Offices, Control room workers, municipal workers, police personnel, CRPF jawans and other workers who are working against the COVID -19 pandemic.
