Attempting Mock Tests- the right way!

Revision and practice of MCQs should be given top priority as the day of examination approaches. Practicing MCQs is one of the best ways for consolidating your knowledge.

  1. Helps know the Pattern & Trend – While the Civil Services Exams are one of the most competitive ones, there are speculations around the pattern, trend and the difficulty levels of questions. But with regular practice through mock examinations, the most unpredictable exam seems familiar and easy. Aspirants must focus on solving as many test series as possible in order to cover the entire probable list of questions which have the potential to be asked in the actual examination.
  2. Helps analyze your mistakes – Mock tests provide a detailed analysis of your preparedness. Knowing and working on the mistakes prior to the actual exam is the best way to boost your success rate. It is also important to understand the nature of the mistakes, which may range from silly to factual to conceptual. Conceptual mistakes are considered to be one of the blunders and one definitely needs to go through the basics from standard and NCERT books. Factual mistakes are a result of lack of knowledge about the current happenings, and hence regular revision of the current affairs will surely help in improving in this area. The most often sought mistakes are the silly ones when even after knowing the right answer, you may tend to mark the wrong bubble in a hurry. Hence more and more practice can avoid such mistakes.
  3. Helps uplift confidence level – Attempting mock tests at regular intervals not only helps in covering the complete syllabus efficiently, but also triggers the confidence levels to a new high. As the mock tests are designed in strict regard with that of the actual exam, these are the best way to move ahead for the final quest.
  4. Helps master the way to perfection – The competitive nature of the exam has grown immensely in the last decade which may have a negative impact on the success rates of serious aspirants. And in such case the only way to succeed is to master the complete syllabus to the needful depths. Going through series of the correct mock test is one of the easiest ways to achieve this feat. This will help in mastering the knowledge in all the needful dimensions coming up with better and enhanced performance for the actual exam by getting a stronger hold on each subject and aspects covered in the Prelims.

Last, but extremely important, stay updated with current affairs, going through the newspapers, editorials and take down short notes. So do revise the current affairs which you have studied and keep reading new current affairs, as this is the dynamic portion of the syllabus which is extremely important.

For students who are gearing up for CSE 2020, this is the perfect time to enroll for the Prelims Test Series and perfect the Prelims preparation. And for students who are preparing for CSE 2021/22 can also try their hands on attempting the Prelims Test Series.
