JeM militant arrested in Chandoosa Baramulla

Baramulla: Police arrested a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant from Chandoosa area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla Abdul Qayoom told media persons in hurriedly convened presser that a cordon and search operation was launched around Shimlaran Nallah in Chandoosa area of Baramulla late on Wednesday following information about presence of militants there.

“During search operation, one JeM militant — Bashir Ahmad Beigh  son of Ghulam Mohiudin Beigh of Sherpora -was apprehended. One AK-47 riflle and some ammunition were recovered from his posession,” he said.

He said the joint cordon and search operation was launched in Shumlaran Nalla by Police Baramulla, 52 RR, 161TA,  and 176 CRPF.

A case has been registered in the police station Chandoosa  i under FIR no. 12/2020 us 7/25 IA ACT 18,20,38 ULAP Act  and further investigation started.

It is pertinent to mention here that the arrested militant had lured two young boys of area to join militant ranks in the last week of March 2020, officials said.
