Anantnag: Unidentified militants on Thursday evening shot dead a civilian (Shopkeeper) in Fateh Pora Larkipora area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. With this, the number of civilians killed in South Kashmir in last 15 days has mounted to five.

Police said that the suspected militants fired upon a man identified as Muhammad Saleem Dar, son of Mohammad Abdullah of Fatehpora Larkipora area of Anantnag district.

Dar, as per the locals suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to a nearby Government Medical College (GMC) hospital Anantnag, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Medical Superintendent, GMC Anantnag, Dr. Majid Mirab confirmed that Dar was brought dead to the GMC as he had multiple bullet injuries.

A senior police officer also confirmed his killing and said that search operation has been launched in the area to nab the attackers. Pertinently, this is 5th civilian killing in South Kashmir in last 15 days.

Wednesday evening, suspected militants killed two civilians in DH Pora area of Kulgam.
