Pulwama district authorities issue directions to prevent panic buying of medicines

PULWAMA, MARCH 24: To prevent panic and irrational buying of medicines district authorities of Pulwama have issued directions to all wholesale dealers, stockists and drug retailers to dispense medicines used in the prophylactic treatment of COVID 19 only on the prescription of a qualified doctor or a registered medical practitioner along with maintenance of   sale-purchase record which shall be in congruity with the prescription record retained by the retailers.

These directions were issued by the District Magistrate,  Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer while chairing  a meeting with the Health officials , wholesale and retail drug dealers,  here today .

District Magistrate Dr Raghav Langer said that such directions would prevent the panic buying of medicines among the public .He instructed the drug dealers, stockists and Chemists that ample stocks of essential medicines shall be to maintained and made available to the authorities whenever required. He appealed the people to refrain from self medication and irrational buying of medicines which would lead health hazard and harmful side effects.

He directed Assistant Controller Drug to ensure backup stocks of essential medicines like Azythromycin,Choloroquine ,Adrenaline, Atropine , Antipyretics and various anti viral drugs  which shall be made available to District Hospital Pulwama and peripheral healthcare institutions.

District Magistrate appealed the traders and Dealers to refrain from hoarding of essential supplies as in case of violation of essential commodities act, stringent action shall be taken as per relevant laws.

The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Medical superintendent, Assistant Controller Drugs, AD Food and representatives of wholesale dealers, retail drug dealers and other concerned.
