JAMMU, MARCH 11: High Court of Jammu and Kashmir launched an awareness campaign in view of outbreak of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) in the UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

During the campaign, information pamphlets, posters and related material was displayed at all the conspicuous places in the High Court as well as in all the District Courts of the UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Besides, various guidelines and advisories issued by WHO, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and by Health and Medical Education Department J&K were widely conveyed. Through Digital Display Boards installed in the High Court as well as in District Courts, precautions regarding Corona virus are being displayed for public at large as part of awareness campaign.

Similarly, a cleanliness drive has also been launched in the premises of High Court as well in the District Courts of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. An advisory in this regard has been issued by the High Court impressing upon lawyers and litigants to avoid unnecessary overcrowding in the courts. The bio metric attendance system of the staff has also been suspended till 31st of March 2020.

To further intensify the awareness against novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), High Court organized a training programme for the Court staff, lawyers and litigants in the premises of the High Court as well as in the District Courts. The training was imparted by Dr Ravinder expert from the World Health Organisation in four sessions.

In the first session held in the High Court at Jammu, Registry Officers were trained while second session was held in Judicial Academy Jammu where Judicial Officers and the High Court staff were trained. Third session was held in District Court Complex Jammu where Judicial Officers, Advocates, Court Staff and PLVs were trained and the last session was held in High Court Bar Room where Advocates and litigants were trained. The recording of one of the sessions has been uploaded on the official website of the High Court also for public viewing.

All the Principal District & Sessions Judges of UTs of J&K and Ladakh have been directed to disseminate the information among the general public regarding the subject.

Meanwhile, J&K SLSA has been organizing awareness camps since 05-03- 2020 in collaboration with Health Department to educate the participants about COVID-19 and the precautions to be taken to contain the spread of disease in UT of J&K.

During these 6 days, 96 awareness camps were organized in all the districts and a total of 7785 persons were made aware about the virus and the preventive measures to be adopted for stopping its spread. Apart from this, posters indicating the precautionary measures have also been prepared and affixed at the conspicuous parts of the court premises. Since mass gatherings are to be avoided, the J&K SLSA has taken the help of social media in its awareness campaign.
