DDC Kupwara calls for preventive measures to avert spread of Covid-19

 KUPWARA, MARCH 10: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Anshul Garg today called for adopting all preventive measures to avert spread of Coronavirus in the district.

The DDC was addressing a joint meeting of Medical Officers, Principals of Higher Secondary Schools and Zonal Education Officers here today.

Besides others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nazir Ahmad Lone, Chief Education Officer, Abdul Hameed and other concerned were present on the occasion.

The DDC said that no positive case of Coronavirus have so far been detected in the district. However, to keep it away, all preventive measures have been put in place.

He said that 20 teams, comprising of 4 officials each, including one male and one female doctor, with all facilities of mobility, have been constituted to visit 2000 Educational institutions and Anganwadi Centers of the district.

He said that teams will coordinate with Educational institutions and disseminate basic information regarding preventive measures which need to be taken to keep the virus away.

He said the joint meeting was conducted to build the rapport between Health and Education departments to yield better result on ground.

He directed all officers to update their filed information on Whatsapp Group, created to disseminate information to concerned quarters.

The DDC asked Heads of Educational Institutions to ensure proper hygiene and sanitation in the schools and disseminate information about preventive measure among the children in classroom as the big congregations and morning assemblies have already been discontinued.

The ADC, Nazir Ahmad Lone, also addressed the meeting and asked the officers to be proactive in dealing with the situation.

On the occasion, publicity pamphlet titled “How to prevent from falling sick?” was distributed among the participants.

Earlier, in a separate meeting the DDC interacted with Surveillance Teams constituted at Nayabat level and asked them to collect travel data from the persons who have been abroad or have returned to home during last month and submit the report to the concerned quarters.

Meanwhile, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Karnah, Dr. Bilal Mohiddin today chaired an awareness meeting of Sectoral officers, Tehsildars, Heads of Educational Institutions and doctors regarding the preventive measures to be taken against spread of Coronavirus.

The meeting discussed various measures being put in place for prevention of the infection in the border area including creation of Surveillance Teams for reporting persons coming back from abroad.
