GANDERBAL, MARCH 09: The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today chaired a meeting of officers to review arrangements put in place to tackle the Corona Virus threat in the district.

The meeting was attended by ADC, Farooq Ahmad Baba, ASP Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, CMO, CEO, Tehsildars, BMOs, BDC’s, Sarpanchs, ZEO’s besides Civil Society members.

During the meeting threadbare discussion was held on various arrangements put in place including surveillance teams, establishment of district control room and isolation wards at MMC Watlar, PHC Wussan, Sub-District Hospital Kangan and District Hospital, for this puepose.

It was given out that 24×7 District Control Room has been established in room No 239 and 244, First Floor, Mini Secretariat complex Ganderbal, (Phone no. 0194-2416260) which will operate under the supervision of ADC Ganderbal.

The DDC sought cooperation from all walks of life including imams and civil society members in disseminating information regarding prevention of Corona Virus infection.

He stressed the BDCs to conduct meetings with Panchs and Sarpanchs to brief them about preventive measures to tackle the Corona Virus in the district.

ZEOs were asked to aware students about the Do’s and Don’ts besides holding awareness session about the prevention measures to combat the Corona Virus.

During the meeting, the heads of government and private schools of the district were directed not to conduct morning assembly in their respective schools.

The DC also asked the concerned officials to prepare a list of the persons who are presently outside the valley and who have recently returned from other countries especially from Corona Virus affected countries, so that they can be put under surveillance.

The surveillance teams of district which have already been constituted were directed to regularly monitor the persons returning from corona hit countries and share all the data with regard to issues like Quarantine, Isolation, with the District Control Room.

The Tehsildars were directed to inspect the district pharmacies to check the prices of masks and take strict action against the hoarders, saying that no one will be allowed to exploit the situation.
