JKSDM to complete skill training of 24000 youth by July, 2020: Navin Choudhary

Jammu, March 04- State Project Approval Committee of J&K Skill Development Mission held a meeting under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Education and Technical Education Department, Navin Kumar Choudhary, at Civil Secretariat.

The committee took various decisions which inter alia included sanctioning of training targets of 5450 candidates under PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana). Under PMKVY, J&K Skill Development Mission (JKSDM) is providing short term placement linked skill courses to unskilled and semi-skilled youth of J&K.

The fresh training targets of 5450 candidates were allocated to 10 government ITI’s and 38 JKSDM empanelled private training providers and the trainings will be completed within next 4 months.

Principal Secretary, Education & Technical Education Department, Navin Kumar Choudhary, stressed on the need to provide quality skill trainings in various demand driven sectors such as health, sports, IT etc and also emphasized on convergence of various government departments in providing short term job oriented skill trainings to JK youth.

He informed that the Mission, over the last two years, has already trained more than 15000 youth and currently 2324 candidates are undergoing training at various JKSDM empanelled training centres across J&K.
