Finance Commissioner, others felicitate World SnowShoe championship medalists

Srinagar: Finance Commissioner J&K, AK Mehta along with Commissioner Secretary Sports J&K Sarmad Hafeez and Director General Youth Services and Sports Dr Saleem ur Rehman felicitated the Kashmir athletes who bagged medals in World SnowShoe championship held in Myoko-Japan recently.

The Kashmir athletes were felicitated during a function held in Gulmarg recently. In the World SnowShoe Championship held in Japan, Kashmir athletes while representing India had bagged three medals. It was first time ever that India bagged medals in World SnowShoe championship. Muzamil Hussain Bagged bronze medal in senior 9-kilometre category while as Ayaan Bin Shahnaz and Zain Ali both of Burn Hall School bagged silver and bronze medals respectively in junior 5-kilometre category.

Hailing the athletes AK Mehta said that it is good to see athletes from Kashmir shining at World .

Sarmad Hafeez who had flagged off team before they had left from Kashmir for the participation in the World Championship said that he is happy to see team coming back with medals.

“I am too happy to see team that I had flagged off coming back with medals. It has happened first time ever in the history of SnowShoe sport. I hope it is only beginning and in future India will dominate SnowShoe sport at World level,” he said.
