Inter block Chess, Carom tournament begins in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, FEBRUARY 26: Additional District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Hanief Malik today inaugurated 3-day inter-Block, statewide open tournament in chess and Carrom for Under 19 and under 25 boys and girls, here at Al -Hilal Educational institute.

Block Development Council (BDC) Chairman Kishtwar, Suresh Kumar Sharma was the guest of honour. Sarpanchs, teachers and   students were also present on the occasion.

In all 12 players, including 8 in carrom and 4 in chess drawn from 10 blocks of the district are participating in the tournament. These players have been selected after Panchayat level competitions held last year in which 2243 participants consisting of 1331 boys and 912 girls took part, informed District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO) Kishtwar, Kharati Lal Sharma.
