Srinagar, Feb 25: Jammu and Kashmir government is taking all possible measures to woo tourists and adventure enthusiasts to visit and explore the Himalayan region—assuring them safety and warm welcome, an official press release informed today.

In this regard, it said, in order to strengthen and refresh age-old bond between with West Bengal, the Department of Tourism held a roadshow at Kolkata as part of its promotional campaigns across the country to attract tourists.

Director Tourism, Kashmir, Nisar Ahmad Wani led the delegation of the representatives of local travel and hospitality sector for the promotion of the J&K’s vast tourism potential.

Prominent tourism operators, travel agents, destination management companies besides regional and national media were invited at the promotional evening, who networked with the J&K’s travel agents for business opportunities and promotion of the varied tourism products.

While appreciating the travel fraternity from Eastern region of the country for their continued promotion in travel packages, Director Tourism, Kashmir, said Kolkata has remained one of the major markets where from large number of travelers visit J&K.

He assured them that Kashmir is safe for tourism activities and hundreds of tourists are already enjoying their holidays at prime resorts like Gulmarg, Srinagar and Pahalgam.

The travel show was organised in collaboration with J&K Pilgrim and Leisure Tour Operators Forum.

Various short-films on known and off-beat destinations were also screened on the occasion.

The department has already organized several roadshows across the country including some of the prominent cities like Bangalore, Pune, Bhubaneswar among others. The officials said that more promotional campaigns are scheduled at other cities including Chennai, Vijayawada and Mumbai to attract travelers to Valley.
