Jammu, February 20: Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu today greeted the people of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri.

In his felicitation message, the Lt Governor observed that the celebration of this festival is a valuable part of our glorious cultural heritage symbolizing the values of piety, devotion and brotherhood.

He expressed the hope that the celebrations of this auspicious occasion would further strengthen the communal harmony of J&K and also prayed for tranquility and prosperity in the UT and well being of the people.

Meanwhile, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, K K Sharma has greeted the people of the Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, celebrated by Kashmiri Pandits as Hairath.

The Advisor while highlighting the importance of the festival in the cultural ethos of the J&K said that it is celebrated by observing the pluralistic heritage, ethos and bonds of love among various sections of the society.

He further maintained that harmony and mutual brotherhood have been the benchmark of this festival since past.

Extending greetings to the people, especially the Pandit community, the Advisor prayed for peace and prosperity for the people of the Jammu and Kashmir.
