SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 15: Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep, Fisheries and Transport Department Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today termed Paravets as the backbone of Animal Husbandry Department (AHD).

He was speaking during a one-day convention on the ‘Role of Paravets in Animal Husbandry Department,’ which was organized by Technical field staff Association of Kashmir here.

Director Animal Husbandry Department Kashmir Purnima Mittal, CEO Livestock Development Board Dr Razdan and other senior officers were also present on the occasion. Hundreds of Paravets and other officials also attended the convention.

Dr Samoon appreciated that every employee of the department irrespective of his place in departmental hierarchy performs his work with dignity.

“Being the field staff, your primary role is to ensure deserving people are benefitted with livestock schemes. You are the face of the department and if you are able to meet the expectations of the people, you are painting a good picture of the department,” he said.

He impressed on the Paravets to inform, educate and communicate the benefits of various livestock welfare schemes to the people.

“Livestock breeders should be periodically advised about various precautions to be taken for keeping their animal disease free,” he said.

On the occasion, Dr Samoon also unveiled a booklet titled- Role of Paravets in Animal Husbandry Department 2020.

The office-bearers of the association also presented a charter of demands to Dr Samoon.

On the occasion, Director Animal Husbandry Department Kashmir, Dr Purnima Mittal also highlighted the role of Parvets and stressed on the upliftment of the Paravet fraternity.
