The complainant had approached GDA for clearing bills of repair of the official vehicles and the bills were submitted for release of payments, but the accused Accounts officer was not releasing the payments on one pretext or the other despite repeated requests from the complainant.

It was also alleged that the accused is demanding the bribe for settlement of the bills, ACB said.

A case (FIR No. 01/2020) was registered at Police Station Anti Corruption Bureau, Baramulla, against the accused Nazir Ahmad, GDA’s Accounts officer, and a trap team was constituted, which caught the official red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000.

Nazir Ahmed was arrested and taken into custody, ACB said, adding that further investigation into the case is going on.
