Srinagar, July 31: As part of its series Allama Iqbal Library (AIL), University of Kashmir conducted Meet the Eminent program with Zareef Ahmad Zareef during which Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir was the Chief Guest.

In his address, Prof. Talat Ahmad congratulated the organisers for conducting such events where eminent personalities of the society are invited.

He further said that these events act as platform where ideas are exchanged for the betterment of the society. He also mentioned the contribution of Zareef Ahmad Zareef especially for preservation of Chinar Trees in the valley. He also felicitated Zareef Ahmad Zareef during the programme.

During the welcome address, Prof. G.M. Peerzada Librarian AIL highlighted the contribution of Zareef Ahmad Zareef towards Kashmiri Culture, literature etc. He also thanked Zareef for pointing to the contemporary issues and challenges faced by our society. He applauded the efforts made by him for preserving our rich and diverse culture.

During his address, Zareef Ahmad Zareef elaborated his personal experience and professional life before the audience. He quoted many famous Kashmiri verses from his own poetry and from other authors as well which enthralled the audience.

During the panel discussion Prof. Shafi Shouq, Rafeeq Raz highlighted the personal experiences with Zareef Ahmad Zareef and elaborated the contribution made by him towards the society. The award winning book of Zareef Ahmad Zareef (Tchonchi Poot) was reviewed by these experts alongwith Shahbaz Hakbari.

The book has won Bal Sahitya Academy Award in Kashmiri language. The experts reviewed the book and gave suggestions regarding the poetic contributions to be made in future.

The programme concluded with Vote of Thanks by Dr. Mohammad Ishaq Lone, Assistant Librarian, Allama Iqbal Library who acted as the moderator as well during the programme.
