Srinagar, Jul 29: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) activist was critically injured after he was shot at by unknown gunmen in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.

According to news agency GNS, Lateef Ahmad Shah was fired at in an orchard in his native Matrigam village.

Shah suffered bullet wounds in his abdomen and was immediately taken to nearby hospital in critical condition.

A doctor at District Hospital Pulwama confirmed that after being treated at the hospital, the injured man was referred to a Srinagar hospital in critical condition.

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti condemned the attack on Shah.

“Attacking political workers who dedicate their lives to the cause of serving common masses is an unfortunate act. We condemn in strongest possible terms attack on our senior worker Lateef Ah Shah from Mitrigam, Pulwama. We pray for his speedy recovery,” she tweeted.
