16 drug peddlers arrested in Budgam, Baramulla

Srinagar July 03: Police have arrested sixteen drug peddlers in different incidents from Budgam and Baramulla districts and seized contraband substances from their possession.

A police spokesman said that Police at Nasrullapora Budgam arrested three drug peddlers identified as Mehrajuddin Mir of Choon Budgam, Syed Arsalaan of Gotapora Budgam residing at Housing Colony Ompora and Obaid Shafi Sofi resident of Housing Colony Ompora.

On questioning, they revealed name of a notorious drug peddler identified as Gulzar Ahmad Dar@ Gul Saka of Naidgam Budgam who was subsequently arrested. Contraband substance including Fukki and other narcotic and psychotropic substances were recovered from their possession, he said.

A case FIR No 198/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Budgam and investigation has been taken up.

Meanwhile, at another checkpoint established at Narbal Bridge, local police arrested 03 drug peddlers. Mudasir Ahmad Mir resident of Karhama Kunzer, Zubair Ahmad Mir resident of Mazhama, Sajad Ahmad Hajam resident of Chaira-guen Magam have been taken to P/S Magam where they remain in custody.

320 bottles of banned substance codeine Phosphate, 24 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon and ₹ 24,000 rupees of fake currency were recovered from their possession, the spokesman said.

A case FIR No. 88/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Magam and initiated investigations in the matter.

In another instance, police from Police Station Chadoora arrested two drug peddlers identified as Bashir Ahmad Sofi and Ghulam Mohd Ganie residents of Patrigam.

21.300 kgs of Poppy straw was recovered from their possession. In this regard a case FIR No. 118/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in P/S Chadoora and investigation has been taken up.

Similarly, police from from P.S Khansahib apprehended a notorious drug peddler identified as Gh Hassan Sheikh resident of Yarikah.  On checking 120 grams of cannabis was recovered. In this regard, a case FIR NO: 104/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been taken up.

Meanwhile, Police in Baramulla district has arrested six drug peddlers and seized contraband substance from their possession.

Six  persons identified as Mohammad Rafiq Sofi son of  Mohammad Subhan Sofi resident of  Jalal Sahab Baramulla, Naveed Manzoor Najar son of  Manzoor Ahmad Najar resident of  Iqbal Colony Baramulla, Mohsin Yousuf Mir son of Mohammad Yousuf  Mir resident of  Delina, Danish Qazi  son of  Ab. Hamid Qazi  resident of  Boniyar A/P Delina, Mohammad  Abbas Mir son of Gh. Mohammad Mir resident of  Delina and Sadam Hussain Khan son of  Mohammad Hussain Khan resident of  Kanispora arrested for the drug supply offences have been taken to Police Station Baramulla where they remain in custody.

Huge quantity of brown sugar and 297 Spasmoproxyvon tablets have been recovered from their possession.

Case FIR No 113/2019 and 114/2019 under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations have been taken up.
