HIGHLIGHTS: Tangmarg Cricket Premier League-2019

Srinagar, July 02: A cricket tournament was organized by Ziran Army camp at Tangmarg Cricket Ground from 13 Jun to 01 Jul 2019.

The tournament witnessed great enthusiasm and excitement amongst the local youths. A total of 16 boys teams and 04 girls teams participated in the tournament.  All the matches of the tournament garnered huge response from the Awam & the Civil Administration.

The matches were played on knockout cum league basis. The final match in the girls category was played on 30 Jun 2019 between teams of Army Goodwill School Ziran and Govt High School, Katipora in which GHS, Katipora emerged victorious. Final match in the boys category was played on 01 Jul 2019 in which JKP, Tangmarg lifted the trophy by defeating Hajibal XI in a thrilling match which was followed by a prize distribution and closing ceremony.

During prize distribution ceremony, sports kits, cash awards and trophies were awarded to the Winners and Runner Ups by Shabbir Ul Hassan, SDM and Commander of Ziran Army Camp.

Ruhi of GHS, Katipora and Mr Mansoor Ah Lone of Hajibal XI were awarded “Players of the tournament” in girls and boys category was respectively for their exceptional performance.

Addressing the teams and the locals, the Ziran Army Camp Commander reaffirmed the Army’s commitment and support to budding sportspersons of the area and pledged to provide them the right platform to showcase their talent.

The tournament provided to be a great opportunity to the people, civil administration and the Army to join hands to give a much needed fillip to the sporting talents in the area.
