Baramulla, Jun 29: In a major breakthrough in Gulmarg Gondola burglary case wherein Rs 51 lakh were looted, police have arrested four accused while one of the accused remains at large.

A police official confirmed to ‘Kashmir Images’ that four burglars have been arrested in connection with the theft of Rs 51 lakh cash from the chest of at Gulmarg Gondola Cable Car Project in the north Kashmir’s skiing resort.

“We have identified the burglars and four have been arrested while as one is still at large. However, we are yet to recover the stolen money,” the police official said.

He added that identity of the burglars can’t be revealed until the stolen money is recovered.

Pertinently, on the intervening night of June 23 and 24, burglars struck at cash counter cum account room at Gulmarg Gondola and looted cash of Rs 51 lakh by breaking into the fire-cum-bullet-proof cash chest.

Police had registered a case (FIR no. 05 of 2019) under section 457, 380 RPC in Police Station Gulmarg following the burglary incident.
