J&K Police to organize State Level Kashmir Marathon-2019 “RUN FOR PEACE”

Srinagar, June 25: J&K Police is organizing a State Level Kashmir Marathon-2019 “Run for Peace” at Srinagar on July 07, 2019 under the auspices of Civic Action Programme (CAP).

Incharge ADGP Armed J&K Danesh Rana-IPS reviewed the arrangements for the event in a meeting today at Armed Police Headquarters Srinagar. Senior police officers from Armed, IRP, Security, SDRF, Traffic, CID and Police Hospital participated in the meeting.

Mega event will be held under seven categories; Full Marathon (Men), Half Marathon 21 (Men), 10 KM Road Race for Women, 8 KM Run for Boys U-14, 6 KM Run for Girls U-14, 2 KM for specially-abled persons and 4 KM Run for Fun (for both men and women).

Pertinently an amount of Rs. 4 lac will be distributed among the winners under various categories as “Cash Prizes” in addition to trophies and certificates. Moreover T-shirts and other refreshments will also be made available for the participants.

The marathon will be open for all and interested citizens can register themselves at the Registration Counter, which will be established at Police Golf Course, Srinagar from July 1st and will remain open on 24×7 basis.

Danesh Rana-IPS also reviewed the role assigned to various committees set up for the smooth conduct of the event. He expressed hope that the citizens will participate overwhelmingly in the event particularly youth from Valley.

Earlier, senior police officers briefed the In-charge ADGP about the preparations made for the smooth conduct of Marathon-2019 “Run for Peace”. Arrangements of security, traffic management, transportation, First Aid, accommodation and meals for the participants were also discussed in the meeting.
