Forest dept organizes three-days training prog on GIS

SRINAGAR, JUNE 24: Forest Department today organized three days training programme on the use of GIS (Geographical Information System).

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests J&K, Suresh Chugh in his inaugural speech introduced the participants regarding the importance of the use of Information Technology Enabled Service (ITES) like GIS as an effective tool for networking, integration, compilation and parallel processing of requisite data/ information, in achieving the objective of real-time monitoring and evaluation of various ongoing projects, apart from its use as an effective Management Information System tool.

Further highlighting the way forward, he informed about the progress achieved in terms of digitization of forest boundaries and their integration on GIS platform.

Addl. PCCF Sarvesh Rai, CCF Kashmir Farooq Gillani, CCF (FCA) K. Ramesh, CF Working Plan S. Harmohinder Singh, RD Social Forestry Meharj-ud-Din Malik, Territorial DFOs and officers from other wings of Forest Department also attended the programme.
