SRINAGAR, JUNE 22: The third day of ‘Back to Village’ programme saw overwhelming participation of people in the Gram Sabhas and the interactive sessions held in various panchayat halqas of  both Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh division.

In Leh, team of Officers and officials visited various villages of Chushot block. He interacted with the village representatives including Sarpanches, Panches and village Nambarders and inquired about the ongoing government schemes and projects in their villages. He inaugurated a Skill Development Carpet Weaving training centre of Handicraft Department at Stok Panchayat Halqa. In block Leh, the programme was launched at Spituk Panchyat Halqa yesterday and ended today and started today in Choglamsar II.

A shramdhan/ cleanliness drive in collaboration with High School Stok was also organised in which all the village representatives and villagers actively participated. Prime Minister’s letter on water conservation issues was also read out during the Gram Sabha.

Likewise, in Singhey Lalok block the “Back to Village” programme started at Photoksar with people coming forward with their issues and grievances. The programme started at Temisgam, Kangi and Takmachik Panchyat halqas and will continue till tomorrow.

The programme was also held in Saspol, Mangyu and Hemishukpchan villages of Saspol block, New and Likir villages of Nimoo block and   Liktsey, Skidmang and Kungyam villages of Rong –Chumathang block.

IN KARGIL, the Gram Sabhas, extensive interactions and other multifarious activities were held across many Gram Panchayats (GPs).

The designated officers inaugurated various public utility facilities including a play field at GP Yuljuk and ICDS Centres at Toko and Doks Chokiyal. Gram Sabhas were held at GP Stakpa, Thasgam Thuina, Drass Headquarter and Tumail during which the visiting officers and Gram Sabha members discussed local governance and development issues and deliberated upon the formulation of need based plans for development of the Gram Panchayats.

MGNREGA job cards were also distributed among the beneficiaries at GP Yuljuk, Minjee and Thasgam Thuina-B while as soil health cards were distributed among farmers at GP Tumail. Saplings of the Kail species were also distributed among farmers at Thuina while as soil health cards were distributed among farmers at GP Tumail.

The PM’s letter addressed to the Gram Sabhas was also read out to the PRIs and villagers during various events which were held today.

The visiting officers including the Special Secretary to Government Higher Education Department Choudhary Rashid Azam Inqalabi, MD RUSA Muhammad Shafiq Chak, Joint Director Information Department Naresh Kumar, Under Secretary Revenue Surjeet Singh and other designated officers also conducted visits of health institutions, schools, Anganwadi Centres etc. and sought feedback from the PRI members and villagers about the status of the implementation of different welfare schemes at the grassroots level and also took detailed appraisal of the problems and grievances of the people.
