Workshop on “Plaster Techniques” held at Baramulla

BARAMULLA, JUNE 15: Indian Orthopaedics Association (IOA) in collaboration with J&K Orthopaedics Association, Govt Medical College Baramulla, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir and District Hospital Baramulla today organised a day long workshop on Plaster Techniques here at Dak Bungalow in which orthopaedic surgeons, postgraduates and faculty members of the college participated.

The workshop was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by Workshop Coordinator and HOD of Orthropaedics ASCOM and Hospital Dr Rajesh Gupta, Organizing Secretary Dr M S Tara, Principal GMC Prof Javeed Chowdhary, CMO Dr Bashir Ahmad Chalkoo, Medical superintendent Dr Syed Masood and other prominent dignitaries.

The session started with scientific presentations by the faculty followed by workshop on plastering techniques. A series of lectures on the topic were delivered by the prominent resource persons who acquainted the participants about various scientific techniques and methodologies of plastering.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr M S Tara highlighted the importance of the workshop and said that the workshop was aimed to educate the participants about the application and benefits of plastering techniques in Orthopaedics. “In recent times the application of plastering techniques for treatment of fracture is a forgotten art by majority of Orthopaedics Surgeons and the most of Orthopaedicians are now resorting to surgery for treatment of most of the fracture cases” he said. He further said that it was highlighted through the workshop that by the proper application of plastering technique, Orthopaedic patients can be treated without going through the surgery.

Dr Tara said that this was the first ever workshop on plastering techniques organised in district Baramulla and reiterated that similar workshops shall be organised in future.

At the conclusion, an interaction session amongst the faculty members was organized wherein questions were asked by the participants and were subsequently answered by the experts.
