Srinagar, Jun 09: People spotted a floating dead body in the dam of NHPC’s Uri-II power project on Sunday morning following which they invited the staff and the police to the spot.
It took a bit of time for the officials to get the body out of the dam, and water later identified as that of Haji Abdul Sattar Ahanger, a resident of Noorkhah in Boniyar.
Initial reports said that nonagenarian Ahanger had gone missing few days of ahead of Eid (on June 04 morning) and the family had informed the police also.
The NHPC-owned Uri power project has two phases. Both the phases use the same water but the two have separate storage systems. The phase-II project is located in Slamabad, not far away from the Line of Control.
