Ancient double roof temple at Channi Prat on verge of collapse: PCC Chief Spokesperson

Sunderbani, June 07: PCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma has said that the historic ancient double roof temple at Channi Prat in Sunderbani is on the verge of collapse due to the “neglect and official apathy” of Archaeological department.

“It is one of the rarest ancient religious temples of its kind which had been taken over by ASI but the urgent repairs have yet to be taken up,” a statement quoted Sharma as saying.

“Sharma who paid a visit to this historic temple today on the invitation of the Management Committee and local residents, paid obeisance and sought blessings of Lord Rama and Mata Sita besides taking part in the Langer attended by hundreds of devotees,” reads the statement.

“He interacted with prominent citizens and management who expressed great concern over the delay in the maintenance work by the Archaeological department,” it said.

“They regretted the neglect and apathy of the concerned authorities of the state and Centre government towards these historic places. They expressed gratitude to the former MLC for taking keen interest in the historic place during his tenure and providing power transformer as well improvement of connectivity to the place,” it added.
