SRINAGAR, JUNE 03: Commissioner Secretary Labour and Employment, Saurabh Bhagat today stressed on the need to create awareness about Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan(PM-SYM)- the scheme meant for old age protection and social security scheme for unorganised workers.

The Commissioner Secretary said that PM-SYM is a central government scheme under which the beneficiary would receive a minimum assured pension of Rs 3000/- per month after attaining the age of 60 years

He directed the officers that a special drive for its registration should be started from 10th to 20th June, so that more and more people would get benefited from the scheme.

During the meeting, the Commissioner Secretary was informed that the department has generated revenue of Rs 346.95 lakh under different Acts during the previous financial year 2018-19.

He was informed that the department has disposed of around 833 court cases during 2018-19.

Apart from reviewing the progress of the department under various Acts, the progress of digitization and online registration for ease of doing business was also reviewed and deliberations were made. He directed the Labour Officers and Labour Inspectors for more coverage and strict implementation of labour Laws.

Labour Commissioner, Bashir Ahmed Khan, also spoke on the occasion.
