Chauhan inaugurates first ever VSS, RR for children with special needs

JAMMU, JUNE 01: Commissioner/Secretary School Education Sarita Chauhan today inaugurated first ever Virtual Support System for the Department of School Education under VIRTUAL FIELD SUPPORT, named as RAABTA at Directorate of Samagra Shiksha Jammu.

Director School Education Jammu Anuradha Gupta, State Project Director Samagra Shiksha Dr. Arun Manhas, staff of Samagra Shiksha and teachers were present on the occasion.

Secretary appreciated the initiative taken up by Directorate of Samagra Shiksha to launch this new concept of generating support system which will not only benefit the existing officials of School Education Department but also act as a Resource Support for students as well as their parents in terms of their education and other available incentives being offered by department.

Later, the Secretary inaugurated a Resource Room (RR) for Children with Special Needs at GHSS Domana under Inclusive Education intervention of Samagra Shiksha. She said that this newly established Resource Room will cater to the needs of people of Bhalwal zone and adjoining areas in fulfilling the long felt need of CWSN of the area.

She was informed that dedicated and well trained special educators have been deployed in the Resource Room who shall be providing educational support, parental counselling, therapeutic services and other possible support to CWSN in the catchment area of school.

She stressed upon the school management to conduct extensive community mobilization in the area and make public aware about the available services for these children in the school. The Resource Room is fully equipped with all kinds of latest aids and appliances.

Speaking on the occasion, Director School Education Anuradha Gupta informed that the Department of School Education has taken various initiatives for welfare of students including Counseling Services, Free Textbooks, Free Uniforms etc.

SPD Samagra Shiksha Dr. Arun Manhas informed that Virtual Field Support is a pioneer concept in which a toll free helpline number has been generated which provides both inbound and outbound calls managed by a group of trained females who provide information and all kinds of possible virtual support pertaining to functioning of School Education Department and existing schemes under Samagra Shiksha.

He urged upon all the officials of School Education Department to make a judicious use of the service and feel free to contact on toll free number 1800 572 8585 in case of any difficulty regarding existing schemes under Samagra Shiksha.
