Srinagar:  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday urged the governor administration to ensure uninterrupted flow of traffic on Srinagar- Jammu National Highway and on Mughal road in view of Eid-ul-Fitr.

In a statement issued here, senior PDP leader and former legislator Noor Mohammad Sheikh said that in view of the auspicious occasions of Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr, the government must ensure that the traffic on routes connecting the landlocked valley to the outer world doesn’t get affected and men and machinery are pressed into service to clear any landslides and related disruption that may occur to due inclement weather conditions.

Sheikh said that Kashmiris working in several parts the country come home during the present period to spend Eid with their families and closure of highway would only leave them perturbed and worried. He said that the essential supplies to Valley are also provided through NH44 and it is hoped that the authorities would exhibit extra caution in ensuring that the route remains open at the present time so that there is no disturbance in demand and supply.
