The Divisional Commissioner made these remarks while reviewing the economic avenues for unemployed youth in the floriculture sector.

The meeting was informed that the valley has a lot of scope for the floriculture industry which can produce the quality flowers. It has been observed that flowers have high demand within and outside Kashmir. Kashmir has good soil and weather conditions which are conducive for the growth of flowers. All these factors indicate that there is the immense scope of floriculture in our economy which will attract the attention of big investors across the country.

The Divisional Commissioner directed Director Floriculture to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) in which identified areas, financial implications, economic generation and benefits for unemployed youth should be clearly indicated and submit to the Divisional Commissioner’s office at an earliest for further course of necessary action.

He asked concerned officers to create mass awareness among unemployed youth regarding the potential of the floriculture sector across the valley so that they will earn their livelihood in a dignified manner and ultimately the economic graph of the Kashmir Division will also be improved.

Additional Commissioner Kashmir Tasaduq Hussain Mir, Director Floriculture Dr Abdul Hafiz Shah and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
