Srinagar, May 29: An army soldier was injured due to accidental gunshot in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.

Reports said an army soldier of 4 Madras was injured when his service rifle went off accidentally during duty at Chokwas post in Gohalan along Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector.

An army officer while confirming the incident said that soldier identified as Ramakant Dewidi of 16 Med Regiment unit deployed with 62 RR presently attached with 4th Madras received injury to his left ear after his service rifle went off accidentally on Tuesday.

Officer further said that injured soldier was shifted to 419 Base hospital Uri where he is under treatment and is said to be stable.

A police officer also confirmed the incident said that a case in this regard has been registered and further investigation has been initiated.
