‘Mountain Biking Race Kashmir’, a mega race event, set to begin in June

Ganderbal, May 28: A mega race event called “Mountain Biking Race Kashmir” (MTB Kashmir), a first of its kind adventure sports event to be held in Ganderbal, will be declared open in June this year.

According to the organizers, mountain bikers from all over the J&K are expected to take part in the mega race event.

They said that the registration for the race has begun and they are receiving a good response.

Talking to Kashmir Images, Sheen Amin, a mountain biker and organizer of the race, said: “Kashmir is gifted with natural terrains which are perfect for mountain biking. The race will give a big boost to mountain biking in Kashmir.”

“If mountain biking is properly promoted in Kashmir, it would give a boost to adventure tourism also. Government should come forward to support the adventurous sport,” he added.

Route overview of the race

The race will start from DC office Ganderbal heading towards Dobhipora Ganderbal, where in cyclists will have to face its uphill trails up to next 2 KM towards SFRI Serich (Forest) nursery followed by the mountain terrain along power canal Ganderbal to Gutlibagh main this will be a ride of 8 KM and it would be the first feeding point.

From Gutlibagh Mai   the Race will head towards the mountain range crossing BELA-WUSSAN off road ride with uphills and downhills till Preng Kangan.

Here at crossover the riders will head towards Fraw Kangan crossing the mountain range of Nilla Najwan. A total of 10 KMs off-road ride. This part of route has got amazing single-track with great flow, tons of jumps, and fast terrain.

Heading towards the closure the riders will cross the Sindh River after a steep downhill from Fraw Kangan at Mamer Kangan.
