World Red Cross Day celebrated in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, MAY 08: The Srinagar Red Cross Committee in association with the district administration Wednesday organized a programme to celebrate the World Red Cross Day.

The main aim of the programme organised at GHSS Amira Kadal was to encourage and recognize volunteers partaking in humanitarian activities in the district.

Students present on the occasion spoke on the importance of humanitarian movements and their interest in being a part of the humanitarian network in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary who was the chief guest on the occasion, said celebrating the World Red Cross Day is an important reminder of the need to recognise the staff and the volunteers who traverse their among other communities to alleviate human suffering.

He said it also serves as an important motivation encouraging people to protect human life and dignity.

ADC Srinagar K. K. Sidha, CMO Srinagar, CEO Srinagar, District Social Welfare Officer Srinagar among other officers were also present on the occasion.

The theme of this year’s World Red Cross Day is love.
