Karnah April 03: The Army in collaboration with Forest Department Friday carried out a plantation drive at Tanghdar.

During the event a total of 700 sapling were planted by Commander Shakti Vijay Brigade, Brig. Paramvir Sing along with forest officials, School children and locals of Tanghdar area.

Speaking on the occasion Brig. Paramvir Sing said that the drive was started with the purpose to enhance the green cover and to create an eco-friendly environment. He said that this step is in the right direction to recover the lost glory of our environment and it must be the duty of right thinking citizens to involve in this drive to plant more trees so that future generation could be saved from the disastrous consequences of the environmental degradation.

Among others, Tehsil forest officers, teachers of Army Goodwill school Hajinar and large number of students were present on the occasion.

The tree plantation drive was hailed by the local as a noble initiative by Shakti Vijay Brigade which would not only contribute towards increasing the tree cover, checking of soil erosion and ecological well being of Karnah Tehsil, but it will also inspire the younger generation to contribute towards a greener future mitigating the effects of Global Warming.
