Police files chargesheet against five

April 29: Srinagar Police has said that it has submitted a chargesheet for a Case FIR No 93/2018 of Police Station Shaheedganj pertaining to an incident of violence dated that took place on 24.07.2018. The attack, police said, involved gunmen using illegal weapons who fired indiscriminately upon CRPF and Police Personnel deployed for Secretariat duty near Fire Services crossing resulting in injuries to CRPF Personnel and one CRPF Jawan namely Ct/GD Shanker Lal Brala of A/23 Bn CRPF had lost his life.

“After conclusion of the investigation, chargesheet was filed before the competent Court under relevant sections of law by Srinagar Police after obtaining necessary Government sanction for prosecution,” an official press statement said.

The chargesheet, police said, was filed against nine accused including Mohammed Shafeeq Bhat and Waseem Khan of Diyarwani Batamaloo along with Bilal Ahmad Bhat of Kund Qazigund, Shazia Yaqoob alias Pari of Kamad Anantnag and Tehseen Ahmed Batloo alias Junaid of Zainder Mohalla, Habakadal, for their role in ‘hatching criminal conspiracy’ for the ‘terrorist act’, ‘harbouring terrorists’ and lending support to the ‘proscribed terrorist organisation’.
