DC Reasi tours rural areas; meets budding sports persons

REASI APRIL 27: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib today concluded her two-day tour of remote areas of tehsil Thakrakote.

The DC visited Matah and Thakrakote areas of the tehsil and took stock of basic amenities there. The DC along with a team of district officers trekked to reach remote villages of the area.

She listened to the pressing issues of the locals at village Dharan, Sailanjan. Better road connectivity, health facilities and drinking water supply were among the principal issues of the area.

During the second leg of the tour, the DC met locals at village Matah. The areas are known for production of medicinal garlic and walnuts.

Meanwhile, District Development Commissioner met with budding sportspersons of the district.

Several national and international level athletes as well as their coaches attended the meeting.

At the meeting the young participants gave their valuable inputs regarding development of sports and relevant infrastructure in the district.

The DDC was also told that the district has immense potential in the sport of Fencing as a number of local players have made their mark at national as well as international levels. Similarly Basketball, Archery, Shooting and various other sports athletes were also appreciated for their dedication to sports.

Representatives of District Youth & Sports Services Office were also present at the meeting.
