KU faculty members invited as Visiting Academics by prestigious Universities in Europe & Australia

Srinagar, April 22: Two faculty members of the Centre of Central Asian Studies (CCAS) University of Kashmir  have been invited as Visiting Academics by two prestigious universities in Europe and Australia.

Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad Yatoo (Assistant Professor at CCAS has been invited by the School of Philosophical and Historical Inquiry (SOPHI), within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Sydney, Australia from 19th of May to 18th of June 2019.

During the affiliation, Dr. Yatoo will present lectures, engage with students and discuss current research, develop new research proposals and publications with Professor Alison Betts current research collaborator in the School of Philosophical and Historical Inquiry (SOPHI) within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Another faculty member Dr. Mohammad Ajmal Shah (Assistant Professor cum Curator) at CCAS has been invited by EPHE, PSL Research University, Paris, France as visiting Professor.. Dr. Ajmal Shah will deliver lectures on Himalayan Culture and Archaeology with special reference to Kashmir and Silk Route studies. Dr. Ajmal Shah will also discuss the current status of archaeological research in Himalayan region and its implications on Central Asian Cultural research and archaeology.

Meanwhile Vice Chancellor KU Prof Talat Ahmad  while congratulating the young faculty members said that the duo has brought laurels to  this institution and this will keep on inspiring the other faculty members, scholars and students.

Director CCAS Prof. G. N. Khaki while commenting on this said that this is a proud moment for the Centre and added that  it is through these young dynamic faculty members that Centre is gaining representation at prestigious universities of the world.
