Family demands probe into mysterious death of driver

Pattan: Family members of a local driver whose body was fished out from a stream after he went missing, staged strong protest on Srinagar-Muzzafarabad highway at Pattan main market today demanding immediate identification of killers and swift probe into the mysterious death of their son.

According to protesting family members, the slain driver John Mohammad Bhat Son of Asadullah Bhat, a resident of Mamoosa Pattan was working as a driver with Jio telecommunication and had gone missing since 22 March. After 14 days, he was found dead under mysterious circumstances.

They alleged that police has failed to identify the culprits so far. “We demand that those involved in the act be identified and be dealt with strictly,” they said.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom told media that they were busy in election process due to which they couldn’t investigate the case properly.

However, he said that the investigation in this regard has now been started and several arrests including one prime suspect were made in this regard. “It will take a week’s time to identify the involved persons in the act,” he added.
